The Bulle et Baluchon workshops are held in compliance with the health regulations in place and the measures required by your establishment to ensure a safe environment for all.

Bulle et Baluchon offers workshops that cover various topics related to the prevention of violence against children.

In the spirit of partnership, Bulle et Baluchon ensures a follow-up to the institution visited following the completed workshops. Various mechanisms are therefore put in place to ensure that adults feel supported in their ability to prevent violence against children.

It is our pleasure to have the Bulle et Baluchon facilitator-counsellors meet you regarding workshop facilitation or to present the activities that are offered. They have more than 8,000 hours of experience in facilitation/intervention in schools, day care centres, and other locations. Our facilitators are available to listen and to equip you or refer you to other resources.

CHILDREN'S WORKSHOPS

Workshop on the Prevention of All Forms of Violence (4 to 8 years old)
VIOLENCE PREVENTION

A PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN AGED 4 TO 8
(inspired by the Tales About Me program)
Duration:             5 workshops lasting 1 hour each*
Frequency:          5 consecutive weeks
Target audience:  Children between the ages of 4 and 8 (daycare, kindergarten, grades 1 and 2)
Price:                  $100 (includes the adults' workshop on the same theme)

 

General objective:
To facilitate the integration of children into society by developing their social skills, their ability to solve problems peacefully and to adopt safe behaviours, all within the framework of preventing violence among children.

Specific objectives:
  • To develop the child's self-esteem and their ability to express their feelings
  • To develop the child's sensitivity and generosity towards others
  • To teach children that they have rights
  • To develop the child's ability to recognize an abusive situation
  • To offer solutions to put an end to violence
  • To encourage children to have continued trust in an adult
  • To allow children to gain greater certainty of their feelings when they are touched in a pleasant or an unpleasant way
  • To show children that they legitimately have the right to say “no”
  • To encourage children to find ways to avoid or get out of violent situations
  • To help children understand that an abused child is not at fault and does not have to keep any shameful secrets

The workshops offered by Bulle et Baluchon include a follow-up and support to the institution visited.  

*The daycare and kindergarten workshops are approximately 45 minutes in length.

Workshop on the Prevention of All Forms of Violence (8 to 12 years old)
VIOLENCE PREVENTION

A PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN AGED 8 TO 12
Duration:           6 workshops lasting 1 hour each
Frequency:        One workshop per week for the first 5 sessions*
Target audience: Children aged 8 to 12 (grades 3-6)
Price:                $100 (includes the adults' workshop on the same theme)
 

General objective:
Empowering children to adopt safe behaviours when they are faced with situations of psychological, verbal, physical, and sexual violence.

Specific objectives:
  • Teaching children about their rights and duties regarding the people around them.
  • Helping children develop their discernment so they can identify situations of psychological, verbal, and physical violence.
  • Offering solutions to put an end to violence.
  • Encouraging children to have continued trust in an adult and to denounce violence.
  • Allowing children to gain greater certainty of their feelings when they are touched in a pleasant or an unpleasant way.
  • Showing children that they legitimately have the right to say “no.”
  • Sharpening children's ability to identify a potential situation of sexual violence.
  • Encouraging children to find ways to avoid or get out of violent situations.
  • Helping children identify perpetrators and understand that an abused child is never at fault, as well as stressing the fact that the sexual violence suffered should never be kept a secret.
  • 6th workshop: Making sure that the concepts learned over the past 5 sessions are well understood.
  • Increasing the child's self-esteem and confidence.

The workshops offered by Bulle et Baluchon include a follow-up and support to the institution visited.  

*The 6th workshop, which reviews the concepts addressed previously, occurs approximately 2 months after the 5th workshop.

Workshop on Bullying (8 to 12 years old)
BULLYING

WORKSHOP FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 3 TO 6
Duration:  2 hours
Price:       $60 (includes the adults' workshop on the same theme)

General objective:
To develop children's ability to prevent, recognize and respond to bullying situations.

Topics covered:
  • The different types of bullying
  • The distinction between conflict and bullying
  • The feelings of the victims of bullying
  • The consequences of bullying
  • What to do in case of bullying
  • Trustworthy people
  • The difference between denouncing and tattling
  • The role of each person in a bullying situation
  • Assertiveness

Workshop on Cyberbullying (9 to 12 years old)
CYBERBULLYING

WORKSHOP FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 4 TO 6
Duration:    1.5 hours
Price:         $60 (includes the adults' workshop on the same theme)

 

General objective:
To raise children's awareness of the issue of cyberbullying and the dangers of the Internet. Children are equipped to be less vulnerable, are able to recognize cyberbullying situations and learn to respond appropriately when needed.

Topics covered:  
  • The definition of cyberbullying
  • The different types of cyberbullying
  • Information that can or should not be disseminated on the Internet
  • The role of each actor in a cyberbullying situation
  • The consequences of cyberbullying
  • Solutions to adopt by children and adults in case of cyberbullying

EARLY SEXUALIZATION

WORKSHOP FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 5 AND 6
Duration: 1.5 hours
Price:      $60 (includes the adults' workshop on the same theme)

 

General objective:
To foster critical thinking skills in youth regarding the over-representation of
sexuality in our society.

Specific objectives:
  • To inform youth about the issue
  • To empower youth to recognize socially constructed beauty stereotypes
  • To encourage youth to be critical of images presented in the media
  • To make youth aware of the fact that being sexualized can lead to different situations
  • To teach youth to appreciate themselves as they are

Topics covered:
  • Definitions of “hypersexualization” and “early sexualization”
  • Self-image problems that may arise from the messages portrayed in the media
  • Self-esteem
  • How images can be altered with the use of technology
  • Seduction

Target audience:  Any adult who is interested in preventing violence against children.

General objective:
Mobilize adults to be involved in the prevention of violence against children.

Specific objectives:
  • Inform adults about the issue of violence against children
  • Empower adults to prevent violence against children
  • Equip adults with ways to support a child who discloses a violent situation
The involvement of adults in prevention efforts reinforces messages of precaution, helps with their concrete implementation, and helps identify children who are victims of violence.

  • How to teach children to protect themselves

WORKSHOP FOR ADULTS IN DAYCARE FACILITIES
Duration:             2 h
Price:                  $60/workshop (free with children's Violence prevention workshops)
Target audience: Any adult working in daycare facility settings who is interested in preventing violence against children.

General objective:
To promote adult participation in the prevention of violence against children.

Specific objectives:
  • To inform adults about the subject of violence against children
  • To equip adults in the prevention of violence against children
  • To equip adults on how to support a child who discloses a situation of violence
The involvement of adults in the prevention process reinforces messages of prevention, helps with their practical application, and helps to identify children who are victims of violence.

Topics covered:
  • The different types of violence and aggression
  • Teaching children to protect themselves
  • Stress indicators in children
  • Supporting a child who discloses a situation of violence
  • Filing a complaint to the DYP



WORKSHOP FOR SCHOOL STAFF
Duration:     1.5 hours
Price:           $60/workshop (free with children's Violence prevention workshops)        
Target audience: Teachers, daycare workers, supervisors, psychoeducators, spiritual and community life facilitators, school psychologists, etc.

General objective:
To raise awareness among school staff about the issue of violence against children and the importance of violence prevention.

Specific objectives:
  • Learn about the key components of the program
  • Observe the extent to which children are subjected to violence
  • Understand the duty to report violence or negligence
  • Adopt a supportive attitude towards children who disclose situations of violence
  • Identify different prevention tips
During this meeting, school staff members will build relationships with the prevention program facilitators.

WORKSHOP FOR THE STAFF OF EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTRES, PARENTS AND ADULTS IN GENERAL

To raise awareness, equip and inform adults regarding behaviours relating to children's sexuality.
